Allied Blenders and Distillers buys Fullarton Distilleries brands

Allied Blenders and Distillers has acquired a clutch of brands from fellow Indian group Fullarton Distilleries. The Rs395m ($4.5m) deal includes Woodburns Contemporary Indian whisky, Pumori Small Batch Gin and Segredo Aldeia rum. Woodburns operates in six states and union territories, with plans for further expansion. Pumori and Segredo Aldeia have a “strong” presence in the on-trade sector across regions like Maharashtra and Goa, ABD said.

Diageo offloads more assets

Diageo announced two more disposals in January, the drinks giant continuing its “sharp focus” on managing its portfolio. The UK group said it had struck a deal to sell its stake in the publicly listed Guinness Ghana Breweries to French drinks group Castel for $81m. It also offloaded another spirits brand, selling Cacique rum to La Martiniquaise-Bardinet.

Spindrift sells majority stake to Gryphon Investors

US-based Spindrift Beverage Company has announced the sale of a majority stake to private-equity firm Gryphon Investors. Founded in 2010, Spindrift produces over 20 flavours of sparkling water, teas, lemonades, hard seltzers and mocktails. Bill Creelman, Spindrift’s founder and current CEO, will become chair of the company’s board. Creelman and the management team are to maintain a “significant equity stake” in Spindrift.

Keystone strikes more UK beer deals

Private-equity-backed Keystone Brewing Group has snapped up three more assets. In separate transactions, the business has acquired the North Brewing brand and two brewers – Magic Rock and Fourpure. North Brewing was saved last year from administration by Kirkstall Brewery owner Steve Holt. Fourpure Brewing was placed into voluntary administration in October, while administrators were appointed for Magic Rock earlier this month.
