Pernod Ricard to sell wine assets to Accolade owner
Pernod Ricard has struck a deal to offload a clutch of wine assets to Australian Wine Holdco Limited (AWL), the owner of Australia-headquartered Accolade Wines. The transaction will include wine brands such as Jacob’s Creek, Brancott Estate and Campo Viejo, as well as seven wineries. The Accolade portfolio already includes Hardys, Echo Falls and Jam Shed. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Diageo to sell Pampero rum to Gruppo Montenegro
Diageo has agreed to sell Venezuelan rum brand Pampero to Italian food and spirits major Gruppo Montenegro for an undisclosed sum. John Kennedy, president of Diageo’s operations in Europe, said the move would allow the company to focus on the “core areas of strength” in its portfolio, and that it “demonstrates our disciplined and strategic approach to capital allocation”. The deal followed Diageo’s sale of fruit-flavoured liqueur brand Safari to Portuguese drinks group Casa Redondo two weeks earlier.
Tilray Brands buys four breweries from Molson Coors
Canadian cannabis and beverage company Tilray Brands has acquired four craft breweries from Molson Coors. The agreement will see Tilray add Hop Valley Brewing Co., Terrapin Beer Co., Revolver Brewing, and Atwater Brewery to its portfolio. Tilray acquired a clutch of beer brands from Anheuser-Busch InBev last year, including Blue Point Brewing, Shock Top, Breckenridge Brewery and Square Mile Cider.
González Byass to take over Viña Santa Carolina’s US unit
Spain’s González Byass is to take over the US business of Chile’s Viña Santa Carolina. Viña Santa Carolina’s US arm – Carolina Wine Brands USA – will be absorbed into González Byass USA. Viña Santa Carolina will retain a minority share in its US unit. González Byass’ US subsidiary imports wine and spirits, including from Chilean winery Neyen and Mexican gin maker Cantera Verde.
